Client Use Case - Mobile Surveillance Requirements
With aims to both enhance and ease the access to LAX Airport, they announced the Auxillery Curbs project. This focused on increasing the number of parking spaces by implementing new curbs and expanding them into new spaces.
As the development of this project was taking place next to an already existing rent-a-car space, as well as where private and commercial cars access the airport, there was a high requirement for security to manage the risks presented to it.
Construction jobsites are prime targets for theft, vandalism, and intrusion, Swinerton, who were contracted onto the project were seeking surveillance that could manage these industry specific challenges.
Additionally, the type of security expected needed to offer 24/7 monitoring and proactive response to actively prevent crime when staff were not present on site.
The Challenges
Due to the profits that can be earned from construction materials, equipment, and machinery, they make for popular targets for thieves.
This type of crime can be costly to contractors, but also creates delay on projects which impacts the client and end purpose of the construction development. Therefore, this makes securing a construction jobsite vital to the survival of such a project, especially with this LAX Airport project which covers a large space.
Additionally, this project is linked to enhancing the parking experiences of customers and is renovating current spaces, any delays are preventing the use of the existing spaces and could have a knock-on effect to the functionality of the airport.
The risk of intrusion on construction jobsites also creates an issue around public safety. If an intruder accesses their site and injures themselves, or worse results in death, the contractors of this project could be held liable.
From this, they can face serious legal and financial implications, as well as reputational damage.
Construction jobsites have many hidden dangers and health and safety risks, however, intruders will not be aware of this and therefore, implementing security is the best way to prevent any unauthorized access.
The Solution - Solar Surveillance Trailers
Following the announcement, Swinerton seeked support from ourselves to support the LAX Airport Auxillery Curb renovation project. With over 20-years in construction security support, we understand the specific challenges faced by the industry and the need to protect this.
In order to combat the risks presented to this large-scale project, we implemented 6 of our Solar Surveillance Trailers to help provide 24/7 live monitoring of the site, day to night.
Fitted with infrared PTZ cameras, they offer high-level surveillance even in dark or more remote locations. Construction jobsites like this project often offer many hiding spots for criminals, but through their zoom in capabilities and 360 degree view, our Trailers provide the full-proof security required against this.
Unlike other competitors, our Surveillance Trailers are specifically designed to work as criminal deterrents in addition to the monitoring they supply. Standing at 20-ft tall, they create a strong surveillance presence, and by this LAX Airport project utilizing 6 of them, it is clear to intruders of the monitoring taking place.
As the LAX Airport project was temporary, our Trailers offered a perfect, cost-effective solution through the use of our rental service. This meant it could be adapted to their project timeline, without needing to skimp on the quality of their security.
Having both complete power autonomy and cellular connectivity, they required no input from the airport for power or internet, and with our fully-managed service are maintained by ourselves through the full duration of the project.
Overall, compared to more traditional, fixed surveillance systems, our Mobile Solar Surveillance Trailers could provide that enhanced, yet self-sufficient security service that construction jobsites require.
They help to deter crime whilst being backed by remote monitoring services that help to detect threats and respond proactively to further prevent crime, but also to manage any active incidents at their construction jobsite.
